Who We Are

Hi! I’m Destiny, aka the Classical Cowgirl and Founder of Prairie Classical!

As a Concert Violinist and Classical Music Radio Host (Kansas Public Radio), I treasure the opportunities to perform for and connect with audiences of all kinds. I also love discovering what my audiences want to hear, so I always incorporate your requests into my concerts. I aim to bring you intense depth in my music-making and a healthy dose of fun, which I'm all about! Yes. It's TRUE. Classical Music can be FUN! Not only that, at Prairie Classical, we ENGAGE with you: You don't just hear music; you experience a relationship and a connection that's both welcoming and warm. I hope to leave you feeling better than when you first arrived, with all smiles and even a dose of happiness if your day was tough.

INSPIRATION
But my all-time passion/favorite thing is to include youth in these concerts—and here's the gem: I work hard with these students to ensure that they perform at a professional level. Your jaw will drop at how good they sound. Not only do we work with world-class professionals, but we also aspire to help these students sound world-class, too. It requires a thoughtful selection of repertoire, intense coaching, and a dedication to practice on the part of the students. It's a unique feature of each and every one of Prairie Classical's concerts, and the community is very receptive and impressed by our top-notch quality.

MUSIC IS THE BEST MEDICINE
I was fortunate to receive these types of solo and chamber music opportunities as a young student; They are essential for artistic development. Not only that, I grew up in less-than-ideal circumstances, and having these opportunities to share my music while receiving positive reinforcement saved me. But even students who grow up in a perfectly normal environment have emotional struggles—Music provides a unique outlet for expression and can soothe these strifes. Most importantly, the lived experience of performing and receiving positive feedback is even more powerful. Music develops the capacity for empathy more than any other medium, which is essential for young people and society as a whole. (Especially right now!) That's why I say, "Music is the Best Medicine!"
